Standard disaster fare but better acted. Like most films of this type it takes awhile to get to the actual disaster and it can feel like a bit of a slog to get there. Has the mandatory calls with the wife back home to humanize Mark Wahlberg's character but like usual in these films it interested me not the least. The explosions were nice the rest of Deepwater Horizon wasn't interesting enough so I doubt this will get a rewatch even if its an all around decent flick. Hollywood is putting out too many of these films though, saw Sully earlier, now this and in the theater saw a trailer for a film on the Boston Marathon bombing (also starring Marky Mark). They make money I suppose but all seem to have the same formula to them.

I was hoping this new Purge would at least meet the mediocrity of Purge: Anarchy but unfortunately this new addition to the franchise failed to live up to even that. True the final third was standard action fare that was mildly enjoyable but the first hour or so was too much of a detriment for this to get the 5/10 rating that I gave Anarchy. It is so cringy seeing Purgers prancing around in bloody costumes acting crazy with cartoon bad guys as the New Founding Fathers that really upped the cheese level Real hard to watch, its fortunate that we get the last half hour or this would have been rated as low as the garbage original.

Incredibly I'm rating this slightly higher than the original Zoolander. The first was cringeworthy bad with its idiocy and purposefully terrible exaggerated acting but this one was so watered down in every way that it was simply... bad, without the cringe. Stupid of course with the most unfunny cameos I can remember but if I was forced between the first Zoolander or its sequel to watch... I'd choose this one easily.

This is a film that I think needs at least two viewings to really understand all the subtext going on. A weird one and definitely not for everyone but I found the society created in The Lobster to be fascinating as well as the characters living in it. I'd say that whether or not someone liked a movie such as "Her" will determine their interest here as well.

Had few parts that were worthy of a snicker but overall Popstar was too stupid for me to find it enjoyable. I suppose the humor didn't connect with me and the story certainly didn't. Cut away the jokes and it is a very conventional plot, you will be able to to guess everything that happens beforehand. I suppose some will say that this doesn't matter with what Popstar is but I would like to have an interesting film on screen character and plotwise as well as having jokes that land. Which for me even that wasn't accomplished that well.

Dull and confusing. The story around the Amazonian and the two European scientists simply was not interesting enough to hold my interest. Noteworthy for me mainly for the scenery of the Amazon and not much else. I can see why people can praise the film but for me it just isn't that memorable at all.
